The air quality in Europe needs to be improved to make cities more livable. From 2030, new means of transport in the Netherlands and Belgium will no longer be allowed to emit CO2, and emissions must be reduced by fifty and thirty-five percent. The solution lies in electric transport. NIU, the provider of smart urban mobility solutions, sees it as its mission to make a significant contribution to the transition to greener cities. Driven by technology and design, the brand aims to make e-mobility as easy and accessible as possible for everyone. To strengthen this mission, the Chinese publicly traded company is joining forces with B-Corp certified PR agency Blyde Benelux. The collaboration successfully kicked off with the launch of the MQi GT in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Urban mobility and livability
The livability of our cities and our health are under great pressure due to severely polluted air, among other factors. To improve this and meet the Paris Climate Agreement, the Netherlands aims for a fifty percent reduction, and Belgium for a thirty-five percent reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030. Governments and climate organizations and experts are pushing for the transition to electric transport to achieve this goal. Mobility providers can and must play an important role in this transition, believes Sieghart Michielsen, Head of Europe at NIU. "We believe in a future with 'green' mobility, without emissions, to make cities more accessible, healthier, and more livable. As one of the larger providers of e-mobility, we have the opportunity to contribute significantly to this. By making it easy, accessible, and attractive for everyone, the transition to climate-neutral driving becomes easier. Without people having to compromise on the convenience of fast and stylish door-to-door transport." NIU's e-scooters have already saved more than 2.3 million tons of CO2 worldwide, equivalent to planting 118 million trees. The urban mobility provider wants to further increase this impact and recently took the next step towards greener and more livable cities with the introduction of a completely new scooter: the MQi GT.
Shared mission: Greener cities
To give NIU more brand awareness in the Netherlands and Belgium, the brand has partnered with PR agency Blyde Benelux. As a B-Corp with the mission of "creating a positive footprint worldwide", Blyde is the right sparring partner for sustainability, linked to style, convenience, and design. Naomi Hogervorst, impact PR advisor at Blyde Benelux, is pleased with the collaboration. "In addition to the distinctive design, comfort, and innovative technology of NIU's models, we give NIU's sustainable ambitions and the benefits of electric driving a central place in NIU's communication. The company is a leader in the transition to sustainable mobility, with collaborations with shared scooter platforms such as Check!, Felyx, and Poppy, a true driving force behind the transition to greener cities. That deserves attention." The agency creates opportunities in the media to highlight NIU's sustainability story. The collaboration has successfully started with the launch of NIU's latest e-scooter model, the MQi GT. In the coming period, the two organizations will accelerate together to increase NIU's brand awareness in the Netherlands and Belgium and to bring attention to the mission of contributing to the transition to greener cities.
