Starting January 2026, users in Lightspeed Retail and Lightspeed Restaurant can ask questions in plain language through a smart assistant and receive concrete, real-time insights directly, without complicated dashboards or reports. Lightspeed AI is designed to evolve into an increasingly autonomous assistant for entrepreneurs. Throughout 2026, the solution will be further expanded with additional functionalities for retail and hospitality.

Reservations and table management integrated with Lightspeed Reservations

Lightspeed Reservations is an integrated solution for managing reservations and table arrangements, both online and by phone, directly within the Lightspeed platform. The tool is designed for hospitality businesses looking for an accessible and affordable way to organize their reservation management. Automatic reminders help reduce no-shows and take a large part of the work around reservations off their hands.

More control over service pace with Lightspeed Tempo

For years, the pace of restaurant service was primarily determined by intuition. Seating guests, following up on courses, and presenting bills were seen more as an art than a science.  Lightspeed Tempo changes this by making service pace measurable, manageable, and repeatable. Together with the Lightspeed Kitchen Display System, Tempo helps hospitality teams with their entire workflow: from arrival to the bill. Thanks to real-time insights into order moments, preparation status, and output, a consistent service pace is created, leading to faster table turnovers, stronger teams, and satisfied guests. Tempo is now available in beta for selected Lightspeed Restaurant customers and will be rolled out more widely later this year.

Consistent execution with Lightspeed Tasks

Lightspeed Tasks is a new digital checklist solution that helps hospitality teams execute tasks in a structured and consistent manner. Entrepreneurs can create recurring workflows for opening, closing, and cleaning procedures, ensuring standards remain the same across different locations. Employees receive reminders and can complete tasks via the mobile Lightspeed Pulse app, while managers gain real-time insights into progress and urgent notifications.

Mobile Tap expands within Europe

Lightspeed Mobile Tap is a compact payment solution that allows restaurants to accept various payment methods without expensive hardware. Whether it is attached to an iPad at the counter or used in conjunction with Lightspeed Tableside, Mobile Tap enables orders to be taken and payments processed anywhere. The solution is currently available in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, and Switzerland.

Personalize your webshop with Lightspeed's new Theme Store

The new Theme Store of Lightspeed eCom (E-series) gives retailers access to a carefully curated collection of e-commerce themes, developed by design and industry experts. The themes are optimized for conversion and allow for building a professional webshop without technical knowledge. Both free and paid themes can be previewed and tested in advance.

New customer-facing displays for retail checkouts

For users of Lightspeed Payments Smart Terminals, customer-facing displays are now available, without extra hardware. This simple and cost-effective solution provides more clarity during checkout.

Selling on Scanner now available for Android

Retailers gain more flexibility in contactless payments with the Lightspeed Scanner app, which now also allows payments to be accepted on Android devices. The functionality is available for Lightspeed Payments customers in the Netherlands, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the United States, Canada, and Australia.
