Entry into a dynamic energy market
The Utrecht-based Eneve, provider of software and consultancy solutions for energy companies, acquires the Spanish software company Nemon. With this step, the company enters the Spanish and Portuguese energy market and strengthens its position as a European player in energy software.
The timing makes sense. The energy markets in Southern Europe are in full swing due to the growth of renewable energy, further electrification, and increasing integration with the European energy system. This increases complexity and the demand for integrated software solutions and real-time insights grows.
Nemon as a local player with a strong market position
Nemon is already responding to this development with SaaS solutions that support energy companies in their daily operations. Think of processes such as connection register management, market communication, contract management, forecasting, and invoicing.
The company has firmly positioned itself in the Iberian market and serves regional energy companies such as Barcelona Energia Pública. With the acquisition, Eneve gains immediate access to a network of more than a hundred energy companies in Spain and Portugal.
More functionality for existing customers
For Nemon's customers, joining Eneve mainly means an expansion of possibilities. They gain access to additional functionalities in pricing, portfolio management, customer interaction, trading, and balancing.
At the same time, local service remains intact. This is an important factor in markets where regulations, language, and operational processes are strongly locally determined.
Eneve's European scale strategy
Eneve itself is a relatively young player, emerging in 2025 from the consolidation of several European energy software companies, including Energy21, Ecedo, Jules, and Gridhub. With this combination, the company now supports more than twenty million connections in Europe.
According to CEO Michiel Kuiper, the acquisition fits seamlessly into the international growth strategy. He describes the Iberian market as one of the most dynamic energy markets in Europe, with ample opportunities to better support energy companies in risk management, portfolio management, and performance improvement.
Focus on continuity and local expertise
Notably, Eneve is focused on continuity. The founders of Nemon, Nàdia Contreras Jordà and Ivan Solé Martinez, will remain involved with the company. Atilano Villanueva will also continue as managing director.
The integration will take place in phases over the coming months, with an emphasis on stability for existing customers and a gradual expansion of the service offering.
Consolidation and growth in energy software
After the transaction is completed, Eneve expects to achieve a turnover of more than 30 million euros. With the addition of approximately thirty employees, the total workforce will grow to about 180 employees.
The acquisition underscores a broader development in the energy market: software is becoming increasingly decisive in how energy companies operate and compete. Scalable, integrated platforms make it possible to respond more quickly to data, risks, and performance.
For Eneve, this step primarily means one thing: a strong position in one of the most dynamic energy regions in Europe.
