Start with fit: year of manufacture, version, and what surrounds it

Two parts may look the same in a photo, while mounting points or connections are just different. Selecting based on vehicle data and part type reduces that risk, as you quickly end up with the right variant. This saves time, frustration, and returns.

Where such a selection helps you in practice:

- You quickly grab the right model, year of manufacture, and version (for example, Performance or Long Range)

- The correct position becomes clearer (left/right and front/back)

- Connectors, clips, and bolt holes often directly match what is already on your car

- You see sooner whether rubbers, gaskets, or mounting materials are needed

- You take into account situations where alignment or calibration may come into play after installation

With body parts, you mainly want it to "fit" again after installation: seams that align, a door that closes nicely, and no extra rattles. By immediately choosing the right variant, the chance is greater that the result is good in one go.

When original often provides peace of mind: safety, sensors, and "hassle"

As soon as a part affects driving behavior or systems with sensors and cameras, you primarily want predictability. In that case, a choice that consistently fits and works is often the safest route. Your car feels and behaves like you are used to, without unexpected noises or alerts.

In such cases, we at Broekhuis often choose the option where fit and function are most consistent. Think of parts related to brakes, suspension, and parts that work directly with sensors and cameras. Handy to keep in mind: original is often more expensive and you sometimes have less choice in variants. On the other hand, you usually spend less time making it fit and after installation, you often think immediately: this fits well.

When aftermarket can make sense: wear, budget, and availability

Aftermarket can work well for parts that primarily wear out and where little electronics, sensors, or calibration are involved. The gain often lies in a good match on specifications and a manufacturer that delivers consistently. You usually have more choice and often spend less.

Here too, selection helps you quickly find the right version and see differences between variants earlier. Quality can vary by brand (and sometimes by series), but you can already assess a lot before installation: are the mounting points where you expect them, and does the fit seem to match what is on the car? If something doesn't fit, it is often smarter to switch directly to another variant or go for original after all. This prevents you from getting stuck in fitting work.

What often works practically as a middle ground: aftermarket for simple wear, and original or specialized installation as soon as sensors, alignment, or really precise fit come into play.

This is how you make the decision without regret afterwards

Prevent regret by not only looking at the part price but at the overall picture: installation time, small materials, and any alignment or calibration. Then it often becomes clear which choice is the most logical in the end, even if the part itself is slightly more expensive.

Do you want to brainstorm about which route fits your repair? At Broekhuis, we are happy to assist you based on your version and the type of part, so you can get back in with the feeling: this just fits well.
