Vertiv (NYSE: VRT), a global provider of critical infrastructure and connectivity solutions, today introduces two new power distribution systems that simplify the management and scalability of data centers.
The first system is the Liebert® RXA remote power panel (RPP). This flexible and safe power distribution solution has one of the most compact sizes available on the market. The second system is the Liebert® MBX busway. This solution for data centers of all sizes provides reliable power distribution above the racks, leaving floor space available for equipment. Both systems are available immediately in the EMEA region.
In many data centers, specially developed power distribution systems are traditionally used to supply power to server racks. However, the development of these custom solutions is accompanied by longer lead times. Moreover, these solutions are not pre-certified by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). This can lead to complications during maintenance.
A proven alternative to custom-developed power distribution systems, particularly for high-density applications, is a standardized RPP, such as the new space-saving Liebert RXA. This system can be flexibly deployed in data centers, server rooms, and network cabinets. The factory-assembled, tested, and certified Liebert RXA offers ready-to-use power distribution as soon as it is connected to power groups. This simplifies commissioning, expansion, and management of large-scale data center networks.
The system combines flexible functionality with a range of configuration options to support diverse location needs, future growth, and optimal use of floor space. This new generation of standardized RPPs also offers intelligent built-in monitoring functionality and can respond more quickly to power imbalances thanks to the intelligent power monitoring and system management system Vertiv™ Liebert® DPM. This prevents issues that could result in damage to server equipment and unplanned downtime, thereby contributing to optimal availability of critical business systems. The Liebert RXA has one of the most compact form factors available on the market thanks to its innovative design. Finger-safe features also contribute to improved safety for operators.
If using floor space is simply not an option, the Liebert® MBX busway offers a versatile solution for installation above racks for reliable and scalable power distribution in data centers of all sizes. The inherent advantage of this solution is the maximization of cold air flow. This high-quality modular busbar system provides support for customization and expansion with minimal need for external support, with various capacity and connection options. Companies can thus cost-effectively adapt and optimize their power distribution infrastructure. The hot-swappable tap-off boxes and adjustable busbar combine optimal flexibility and availability with continuous power supply to critical workloads, even during upgrades and layout changes. The lightweight and robust aluminum chassis of the busbar system is certified for protection class IP2X and meets the requirements of IEC 61439-2. The solution offers optimal safety during maintenance with built-in finger-safe functionality and a 'ground-first/break-last' design.
