Strategic step towards an emission-free fleet
Toyota Netherlands and Essent have signed an agreement for the delivery of electric PROACE commercial vehicles. This includes both the WORKER and CITY versions. These vehicles will be used by installers and technicians who work daily on making households more sustainable. This way, Essent is taking an important and concrete step towards a fully emission-free fleet by 2030.
From ambition to concrete execution
Currently, only a small part of the fleet is electric. Over the next five years, all fuel-powered commercial vehicles will be replaced by electric variants. With this collaboration, that ambition is being turned into action. Service partner Energiewacht is already showing that this works and is now operating with electric commercial vehicles from Toyota.
Large fleet requires a smart approach
The total fleet of Essent consists of about 1,500 vehicles, of which around 1,000 are commercial vehicles. The passenger cars are already largely electric, but the biggest challenge lies with the commercial vehicles. By investing in electrification now, not only is emissions reduced, but operational efficiency is also improved.
Sustainability visible on the streets
The transition to electric driving is part of Essent's broader Sustainability Plan. According to COO Marleen Prins, it makes sense for an organization that helps customers become more sustainable to set a good example itself. This step not only implements the energy transition internally but also makes it visible in everyday street life.
Toyota supports implementation and use
Toyota was selected after a careful procurement process that centered on the user. The company not only supplies the vehicles but also actively supports the implementation. Technicians and installers receive training focused on efficient driving, charging, and trip planning. There is also attention to loading and range, ensuring that the vehicles are optimally utilized and the service level remains high.
Electrification requires behavioral change
The transition to electric driving is not only a technical change but also a behavioral change. Toyota actively guides this process and helps drivers make optimal use of the new technology. This guidance plays an important role in successfully scaling up electric driving within organizations.
EV coaching as an accelerator of adoption
With special EV coaching, Toyota teaches drivers how to get more kilometers and driving pleasure from electric vehicles. Think about smart management of range, efficient driving behavior, and optimal charging. This approach lowers barriers and accelerates the acceptance of electric driving within Essent's fleet.
Collaboration in the energy transition
The electric commercial vehicles are used by service partners who play a crucial role in the energy transition. They install, among other things, solar panels, heat pumps, and insulation at customers' homes. By also making the fleet more sustainable, Essent reduces emissions throughout the entire chain and strengthens its position in the transition to a future-proof energy supply.
