Payment app Tikkie - launched in 2016 to make payment transactions easier - adds a new feature to the app today. With 'Groepie' - a handy functionality that allows multiple users to keep track of and settle group expenses - Tikkie makes group payments a lot easier. This new application works quickly and simply: in no time at all, you can create a Groepie in the Tikkie app, where participants can share their costs. You can invite members via WhatsApp, among other ways. You can then leave the calculations to Tikkie, so you never have to deal with money issues again and don't have to calculate everything on the back of a beer mat.
Tikkie, the payment app from ABN AMRO that has more than eight million users since this summer, is now also available for group expenses. The app provides a solution for settling shared costs after a fun night out with friends, a team outing, or a lively bachelor party. "Tikkie is often used to settle costs that one person fronts. With Groepie, it is now also possible to keep track of and settle costs together: a super handy functionality that many users needed," says Rogier Brinker from Tikkie. "This is also evident from Tikkie's own data. Descriptions of group expenses such as 'weekend away', 'baby shower', or 'household groceries' are appearing more and more frequently. Those costs can now be conveniently settled in Groepie."
Handy in every situation
With Groepie, you can closely follow all group expenses and see who owes whom what amount. This functionality is not only handy for one-time events but also for long-term expenses, such as tracking expenses within a household. This way, students no longer have to rack their brains over settling all expenses among housemates in a student accommodation. Thanks to the new feature in Tikkie, no misunderstandings can arise, and all users always have visibility on the expenses entered in a Groepie. This way, everyone can contribute to the pot, and their costs no longer cause headaches.
8 million active users; a total of 16 billion in Tikkies paid
Brinker: "We expect Groepie to be widely used. With our Tikkie app, we reached the number of eight million users this summer. We are proud that half of the Netherlands is now using Tikkie in daily life. Since the launch of Tikkie, a total amount of over 16 billion euros has been reached. Now we are adding a new, smart application to the app, which allows you to easily settle shared costs in a group without needing extra resources. Switching between different apps or tools for cost settlement is not necessary; settling is very simple with a Tikkie. What is (or was) a party, should remain a party."
