Dutch small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are in a defining era. Technology is developing faster than ever, while human trust and relationships are more important than ever before. Against this backdrop, entrepreneurship in the Netherlands is getting a significant boost: the number of members adding "founder" to their profile has nearly tripled since July 2022. Moreover, one in five professionals is considering starting their own business soon.
AI as the great equalizer
According to the new SMBs Work Change Special Report from LinkedIn, AI is the driving force behind this trend. AI is the great equalizer; for small businesses, the question is not whether they should embrace AI, but how quickly they can do so. However, the data shows a striking pattern: most small businesses are now using AI, but only a few are implementing it in a way that fundamentally changes their operations.
In the Netherlands, 56% of SME employees believe that AI will improve their daily work. And although widespread application is still in its infancy: 26% use it for complex strategies and only 18% for everyday tasks, optimism is high. No less than 66% of Dutch SME marketers are convinced that AI helps smaller brands to 'punch above their weight' and compete with larger players.
LinkedIn launches one-stop solution for SMEs
Against this backdrop, LinkedIn is launching Premium All-in-One. This is an all-in-one solution that helps entrepreneurs go beyond ad-hoc AI use by centralizing sales, marketing, and recruitment tasks, including built-in guidance to prioritize actions that drive growth. The tool is part of LinkedIn's broader effort to help small businesses navigate a rapidly changing world, where entrepreneurs are increasingly responsible for recruitment, marketing, and sales at the same time. Key features:
- Centralized dashboard: A new overview that combines sales, marketing, and recruitment activities with AI-driven tips and guidance to simplify your daily tasks.
- Smart networking: Entrepreneurs receive daily personalized suggestions for prospects based on specific target criteria (increasing the chance of response by 61%), including AI support for more effective messaging.
- Visibility and credibility: Credits to boost posts and tools to automatically invite followers, a crucial step as 74% of SME leaders see brand building as essential for their success.
Early data shows that users of this new package see their visibility significantly increase, with an average of 57% more followers and 40% more profile views.
Authenticity remains the foundation
AI skills in companies with up to 50 employees grew by 137%, but despite this rapid rise of AI, the human factor remains indispensable. In a world full of AI content, 58% of Dutch SME marketers say that the public only truly trusts information when it comes from people they know, such as customers, partners (62%), or their own employees (51%).
The network of professionals in small businesses is growing 8% per year, significantly faster than in large corporates. When Dutch SME talent needs advice, nearly half (49%) immediately turns to their professional network.
