The entry into Spain is part of Marktlink's European growth strategy. The country has a broad landscape of family businesses and enterprises led by director-major shareholders (DGA's), many of which are in a phase of succession, consolidation, or international expansion. For a growing number of Spanish SMEs+, the emphasis on value creation is now also outside the national borders, through European consolidation strategies and transactions elsewhere in Europe.

"Spain is a market where many entrepreneurs find themselves at a crossroads of growth, succession, or ownership transfer," says Javier Alfaro. "With a local office, we can operate closely and at the same time provide access to a broad European network of strategic and financial buyers, a combination that is becoming increasingly important in the mid-market segment."

Marktlink works with dedicated deal teams that support entrepreneurs throughout the entire acquisition process, from preparation to completion. They are supported by a diverse range of internal specialists, a data-driven approach, and sector-focused specialization.

According to Marktlink partner Erwin Wilbrink, the expansion in Spain aligns with broader European developments. "The Spanish mid-market is characterized by strong fundamentals, stable economic prospects, and increasing international interest. From our offices in Northern Europe, we have already facilitated various transactions with Spanish buyers in recent years. With our presence in Madrid, we can now further expand and strengthen those activities."

The Spanish operations start with a local team of six professionals and are expected to expand quickly as activities grow. Marktlink Spain focuses on profitable mid-market companies, with an emphasis on transactions with an international component, including European consolidations and buy-and-build strategies.
