The employees of a Welsh branch of Tata Steel were spied on for a while by their employer, who had hidden cameras in lamp holders, smoke alarms, and other places.
The thirteen fired employees were unmasked when they took a power nap in the company's cafeteria. In total, seventeen employees were in dreamland, four of whom were not fired because the employer did not have enough evidence.
The fact that the employees were spied on led to strong criticism from the unions, reports the BBC. However, Tata Steel is said to believe that the hidden cameras were necessary to ensure safety.
