The software is intended for synchronizing contacts, calendar appointments, tasks, and notes between the smartphone and the Mac computer. This already existed for Windows.
Typical Mac applications like iCal, Address Book, but also Microsoft Entourage are supported. You can now easily add or remove applications on the BlackBerry via the Mac, schedule automatic backups, encrypt backup files, and update the firmware of the BlackBerry. iTunes can now also communicate with the BlackBerry.
The BlackBerry Desktop Manager works on Mac OS 10.5.5 and BlackBerry OS 4.2 or newer versions of both operating systems.
