Unstoppable: the popularity of buy now and pay later
Since the introduction, 'buy now and pay later' payment solutions have become indispensable in consumer payment behavior. With just one click to place orders, getting them delivered at home in no time, and only having to pay later, who wouldn't want that? Research from in3 shows that 42% of Dutch consumers have already paid for an online purchase in installments. Additionally, as many as 58% indicated that they would like to use an installment payment method if it is available in the (web)shop.
About in3 installment payments
In3 is the first installment payment method without interest in the Netherlands. By offering this payment method, consumers can pay for online purchases in three equal parts within 60 days, without interest and BKR registration. Consumers can pay with in3 in over 1,500 webshops, particularly in the home & living, electronics, and mobility categories. The payment solution is very popular for more expensive purchases. In3 is also an attractive payment method for merchants. In3 fully bears the risk of potential non-payers, which means the merchant pays a slightly higher commission than with a transaction. ''However, merchants are guaranteed to be paid out, and the average order value with in3 increases by up to 30%'' adds Mark.
The payment method was first offered to merchants via PAY. Joost Janssens, Business & Partner Alliance at PAY: ''When one of the founders of in3 came up with the idea for in3, we regularly sat down together to see how PAY. and in3 could bring the payment option to market together. Because we believed in the concept from the very beginning, PAY. has been the exclusive PSP where in3 was available as a payment option for a long time.''
In3 introduces in3 in-store!
The payments sector is known for being subject to change. This is not only due to changing consumer payment behavior and regulations but also due to technological developments. To stay ahead in the latest developments within the sector, PAY. has teamed up with StoreKeeper. Thanks to this collaboration, PAY. and StoreKeeper will be the first in the Netherlands to offer in3 in-store in the physical store.
In3 in-store works as follows:
- At checkout in the store, the customer shows a QR code in the in3 app that the cashier scans using the cash register system.
- Then the customer pays the first part of the installment payment directly via iDEAL.
- For the second and third installment payments, the customer receives a notification from in3 when the installment payments are due.
In3 in-store at BredAqua
In3 in-store is being rolled out first at BredAqua, a joint customer of PAY. and StoreKeeper. In the near future, several customers of Storekeeper and PAY. will be able to offer in3. BredAqua is the largest pond and aquarium specialist in the Benelux with a webshop and physical store. Since February of this year, customers of BredAqua in the physical store have had the option to pay with in3 in-store. Wilfred Huijsmans, director of BredAqua: ''In3 will give the conversion in our physical store and webshop an extra boost! By informing customers that they can also pay for aquariums in the store in installments via the in3 app, we lower the purchasing threshold and increase conversion in the store. Every customer has a preference for a certain payment method. With in3, we enhance that preference. And the more preferences, the more satisfied customers check out in our physical store.''
In3's CEO Hans Langenhuizen is also very pleased with this innovation: ''We receive a lot of inquiries from various sectors about whether our payment solution can also be used in physical stores. Until now, that was not possible, and we are very happy with the collaboration we have set up with PAY. and Storekeeper to make this possible. The plan is to have a nationwide spread this year with stores where you can pay with in3.''
