The originally American Wunderkind is entering the Dutch market immediately. With more than 800 employees worldwide and a revenue of over €100 million, the multinational is a leader in performance-driven marketing for online retailers. It serves more than 1,200 clients worldwide; in Europe, Wunderkind operates from a UNESCO canal house in Amsterdam, working for brands such as Scotch & Soda, G-Star RAW, and Clarins.
With Wunderkind's service, online retailers can significantly scale up and enhance their customer database. The technology connects anonymous website visitors to customer accounts, allowing e-tailers to provide those customers with a fully personalized experience through their own channels. "The online advertising landscape is changing rapidly," says Wouter Koch, Country Manager Netherlands at Wunderkind. "Traditional performance marketing channels are under pressure due to rising costs, stricter privacy regulations, and tracking cookies that will disappear next year. As a result, online retailers are getting less value from their paid marketing channels and find it harder to grow. Because we focus on opt-in first-party data and channels, unlike other parties, we generate up to ten percent additional online revenue for our clients and rank among their top three marketing channels."
Dutch retail market
After business successes in the United States and London, Wunderkind's expansion to the European Union is a logical step. For this expansion, the focus quickly fell on the Netherlands, although the European presence of the ambitious performance marketing company will not stop here. Koch: "The Dutch retail market is very digitally mature, as evidenced by consumer behavior and the large national e-commerce players. Precisely because of this maturity, I expect that our service aimed at owned communication channels will be welcomed here. We see that Dutch organizations are already heavily investing in their own databases and channels. With our technology, companies can easily deliver personalization at scale, so we are happy to support them in that."
Growth ambition
Of the hundreds of employees worldwide, six currently work in the Amsterdam canal house. Despite the tight labor market, Wunderkind aims to expand this team to twenty employees in the coming year. Koch: "In recent years, we have grown tremendously, both in the number of employees and in our business results. We want to continue that growth in Europe, which can only happen if we also distinguish ourselves as an employer. Therefore, we consider inclusion and job satisfaction as top priorities, which we achieve in part with our high score on the Corporate Equality Index. I am very much looking forward to making Wunderkind the most enjoyable tech employer in the Netherlands together with the current team and all future talents, and thus continue our international growth."
Wulfric Light-Wilkinson, General Manager of Wunderkind International, adds: "This is an important milestone for Wunderkind, as with the emerging market in the Netherlands, the Amsterdam office is central to our broader European expansion plans. We look forward to introducing our services to a new selection of retail market leaders – and to welcoming local digital talent to our rapidly growing team."
